Fallout Equestria: Zebra Assault RIfle by ThisHomeBoy24 Fallout Equestria: Zebra Assault RIfle by ThisHomeBoy24
So here is the planned design for the zebra assault rifle, or the Shambu Rifle as it will be called in-game. The idea behind it is a very cheap looking mass produced weapon, which is why it is mostly made up of pressed metal with a very simple foregrip. My thought process was that because the zebra's have been fighting with themselves and their environment for a long time that they would have went with the cheapest, most plentiful option so people can protect themselves.

The design of the weapon is heavily inspired off the Thompson SMG, but with a few notes from the AK-47, and a bit of the M4.

The Shambu rifle, once modeled, will be useable weapon that you can find in the Fallout Equestria game being made by The Overmare Studios. Check out our website for more information.

Well, I wouldn't call it awesome until I see a zebra in action with this. Right now it's unclear how zebra is supposed to use it (except for a heavily anthropomorphic one). Zebra ponies doesn't have magic to float their weapons around and they are not bipedal. Also, it might be tricky to pull off an aimed shoot with this without injuring yourself. Besides being cheap end easy to mass-produce such weapon must be practical and easy to use without loosing mobility. However, to use this one a pony have to use both frontal legs while laying on the ground.

BTW, it would be nice if there would be weapons specifically designed for unicorns and  by that I mean stuff which supposed to be floating around in magic and not usable by any other means.

The idea for how weapons in our game is designed is that all are capable of being fitted into a battle saddle, and obviously telekinesis, however they are also designed so the weapon could be used manually if the shooter's battle saddle failed or they did not have one. We see in the show that ponies are quite capable of standing on there hind legs as well as manipulating objects with their hooves in ways a normal horse would not be able, so the idea is that the pony holds the weapon's grip between their fetlock and hoof, then use their second hoof on the foregrip to keep it stable. They then can fire the weapon in a standing, sitting, or prone position, even if they are meant to be used in a battle saddle.

As for a more artistic reasoning behind the design, we wanted to keep the weapons looking as though they "might" be able to be held by a pony, at least the weirdly jointed mlp pony, but also making the weapon seem recognizable/familiar enough to real world weapons so the game doesn't fell too alien. One of the great lessons i learned while studying art direction in media is that the more weird or alien a world feels the more difficult it is for the player to connect with that world, things need to seem like they could exist in our world. A great example of what i mean is our mouth held weapons, which many people have noted looks generally weird due to the lack of a normal grip.

Which unfortunately its the same reasons i mentioned above that we will more than likely not have weapons only meant for unicorns, there are also a few gameplay reasons as well but that is another story. I hope i answered any questions you might have on the design.

Hm... Could work this way, but are you going to implement this in the game? I mean it's very unlikely for everypony to have a battle saddle and would be really cool to see... but might be a nightmare to implement.
